Artist Statement

Amber Lily is a contemporary textile artist from Greater Manchester whose practice centres on colour, texture and mark-making. Creating abstract compositions rooted in everyday experience, she draws inspiration from often-overlooked details such as litter, graffiti, scuffed surfaces and urban plant life.

Sustainability is central to her practice, working primarily with recycled and repurposed materials, including discarded clothing, domestic textiles and salvaged materials. These materials carry traces of previous use, connecting each piece to its history and environment.

Her experimental approach combines dyeing, printmaking, collage and free-motion embroidery, layering techniques to explore colour, rhythm and proportion. Through wall hangings, framed artworks, cushions and sculptural textiles, Amber reinterprets quilting through a contemporary lens.

With a particular interest in colour and its relationship to space, Amber creates expressive textile pieces that bring together material, pattern and texture. Her work offers a contemporary approach to interiors, inviting colour and individuality into the home while encouraging a closer appreciation of the everyday.
